Although the intent of the Weight Watchers Points Plus program is to allow you to lose weight safely, while at the same time feeling satisfied, there are times you may feel hungry. When that happens and your stomach begins to rumble, even the best intentions can evaporate into thin air. The key to successful weight loss is keeping hunger at bay. By following a few guidelines, you can curb your hunger while you are following the Weight Watchers diet plan.1.
Eat breakfast to help control your appetite and reduce the likelihood of overeating during the day. A healthy breakfast consisting of protein, carbohydrate and fat also helps keep your blood sugar level stable by providing consistent energy and helping to prevent a dip in blood sugar that can lead to feelings of hunger.2.
Stick to regular meal times. Don't skip meals. Depriving yourself of meals leads to excessive hunger that can trigger overeating or binge eating later in the day.3.
Have a glass of water or a sugar-free beverage. According to WeightWatchers.com, thirst is easily confused with hunger. Instead of needing food, your body may actually be dehydrated and crave water.4.
Eat a small snack if the hunger feels overwhelming. Have an approved snack, such as an apple and a small slice of low-fat cheese, a cup of low-fat yogurt or plain popcorn sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.5.
Brush your teeth and use a strong mouthwash to curb the hunger. According to WeightWatchers.com, the strong toothpaste and mouthwash taste left in your mouth makes food taste bad, which reduces the desire to eat.
- Get your body moving. According to the Einstein Healthcare Network, exercise increases metabolism, burns calories, curbs your appetite, helps build muscle and makes your body stronger.
- According to WeightWatchers.com, exercise recommendations vary depending on your desired goal. If you have health problems, talk with your doctor about an exercise plan that fits you personal situation.
