Improving your upper thighs takes commitment.
The upper thigh is a common problem area, usually due to excess fat or not enough muscle. Both of these problems can be addressed by one or all of the several exercise machines that target the upper-thigh area. While there is no "best" exercise machine, they can all be used to improve your upper thighs and give you the best legs possible.
The upper thigh is composed of several different muscle groups including the quadriceps, which are located on the front of your thigh and are responsible for hip flexion and knee extension. The hamstrings are located on the back of your thigh and work against the quads to extend the hips and flex the knees. Your inner thigh consists of a group of muscles that draw your legs together and are known as the adductors.
Sweat It Out
Cardiovascular machines can help improve your upper thighs by burning calories, thereby leading to fat loss. You don't need to choose cardio machines that specifically target your thighs because when you lose fat, you lose it throughout your entire body rather than a specific site. However, machines that do work your thigh muscles will have an added benefit of strengthening and toning your thigh muscles. Regular use of the stair climber, elliptical, bike or treadmill can lead to fat loss and upper-thigh improvements.
Targeting multiple muscle groups at once with added resistance is one of the most effective ways to improve your upper thighs. A few exercise machines can be found that allow you to do just that. The leg press machine, in which you position your back on the pad, place your feet on the plate then press the plate away from your body, works all the muscles of your thighs simultaneously. The machine also gives you the opportunity to work different muscles more intensely. For example, placing your feet high on the plate puts the emphasis on your hamstrings, low on the plate hits your quads and assuming a wide foot stance targets your adductors. The hack squat machine and Smith machines are alternative options that will work and improve the bulk of your thighs.
One At A Time
If you prefer to concentrate on one muscle group at a time, there are several exercise machines that make it possible for you to do just that. To target your quadriceps with the leg extension machine, sit at the machine, place your ankles under the roller pads and lift your legs to full extension. The leg curl machine, whether it's a lying, standing or seated version, works the hamstrings in a similar fashion. Strengthen your inner thighs with the adduction machine or cable machine.
